Qualification Details:
Applications are invited for the following temporary post under the project titled “Declining energy intensity in the manufacturing sector of India: A modified decomposition approach”, in the Dept. of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras.

6. About the project:
i. This project proposes to use decomposition approaches to understand energy consumption in the manufacturing sector of the Indian economy. The approach of this project involves understanding existing decomposition methods and modify to suit the Indian data.
ii. Data for this project will be used from the secondary sources, namely the Annual Survey of Industries (ASI) of the Government of India and Prowess Data from the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy. This project would be focused on the methodological improvements and validation using data from the secondary sources.
iii. This project aims to use index decomposition methods and applied econometrics related to panel and time-series data from an empirical viewpoint.

9. Roles and responsibilities:
i. The candidate should have a keen interest in theoretical and empirical research in energy economics, particularly in applied industrial economics.
ii. Adequate knowledge of applied statistics and econometrics.
iii. Knowledge of statistical and mathematical software.
iv. Willingness to work on unit-level/firm-level/aggregate level secondary data
v. Good academic writing and communication skill
